Awana Fun

I kids joined awana this year. They were invited by friends to go with them, which really means it's a great way to get people to join. My girls came home and begged me for a week to do it. I knew there was no way they would take no for answer. The reason i hesitated was because we have so much on our plate already and we do church set up for the youth group every other week on the same day. But they promised me they would do there homework and memorize there bible verses with out me nagging. They go to another church for awana, our church doesn't offer it and the cool part is that a good number of families that go to eagle brook church also have there kids in the awana at this particular church.

For the last day before Christmas break they had the kids dress up at people from bible. Bella didn't think her spark group had to dress up so she didn't. It turned out they could and she was bummed she missed out on that. Kate on the other hand decided she was going to be a angel from the moment they gave them a choice. She had it all figured out in her head on how she wanted to look. The problem was making it happen. She first wanted a long white dress with gold on it. I looked at 3 stores and nothing that color and in the price range i wanted to spend. So i found a pillow case that was
super long at the thrift store and cut a hole for head and arms, then tied a ribbon around her waist.

She also wanted wings and i looked on Pinterest for ideas and i found a fun and cheap idea to do. Scott cut out a wind design from a plastic tote. The kids all picked on it because it looked like a giant tooth but it worked. We folded it n half to give it a more 3d look. I picked up a pack of coffee filters from aldi for 2.oo and folded them in half and half again and hot glued them around the wings. It looked like feathers or ruffles. Kate was happy so that what counts!

I am so proud of these two ladies they love going and get excited about doing the bible workbooks and memorizing there verses. Bella memorized 10 bible verses this past week, she is determined to catch up with some of the other girls who have more badges. She started later then them so she is working hard to get there. She also wants her name in the treasure chest more so she can get a prize. Each verse gets you one name in the chest.

Henry will be going once he is potty trained. Then Scott and I can have date night while they are at church!!!!! More motivation to get him potty trained.
