Bike Gang + 36 Miles
5:00am alarm goes off and began loading Scott, Anna, Bella, Kate, Ernie the dog and I into the car by 6:15 to make it to the Minneapolis Bike Tour by 7:00. Mission accomplished! While walking to check in we happen to meet up with my cousin Nic and his wife Kier who were also riding in the 36 mile ride. It just amazed me to see all the hundreds of people with there bikes and everyone had different styles and kinds of bikes to ride. I am very curious to see how many rode in the tour this year. They were one of the first people lines up to start the ride on this very chilly morning at 7:30. I think the boys were very awake! in the pic above.. Nic and kier going to line up!After we watched them leave we made our way back to the car to kill some time, so of course we left for target to get a sign made for them at one of the rest stops. Scott was going to call us when they were a few miles out from Minnehaha park so we can cheer them on when they came in. Perfect timing we got to see them come down the hill into the park. They took a quick break and were off again, and so were we did a little color time on the sidewalk and made our sign by the car and then made our way across the river and stumbled on a store that looked fun so we parked and walked the kids to the oh so closed store, bummer! That's ok we found a coffee shop and got the best and most beautiful coffee i have seen. True artist made it! Then it was time to get back in the car and meet the biker gang at the next rest stop. Unfortunately this one was on the golf course and was very hard to find so we just headed down to the finish lined and waited with our sign. Bella was so cute she was running down the street holding her sign and cheering the bikers on at the finish line. Some even rang there bells for her. While observing Anna and i decided we are so doing this next year, the real question for scott and I are we bringing the kids or finding a sitter. But it was so much fun to experience the family riding together. Scott rode along with Nic and Kier for 32 miles and then left to push it the rest of the 4 miles. He said he averaged around 12 mph during the day and 17 mph the last few miles. I'm so proud of him he is out there doing what he loves to do! And he got a t-shirt to remember the experience :) He made It! Finish line ! Finished and look'n like champs!
Good job all of you!
