Easter

This year we stayed home and invited my sister Jenni over for lunch.  We kept it casual and easy. Holidays can get stressful if running around trying to do it all. We went to church on Friday with some good friends and Saturday at 6 pm i had to serve in our kids ministry.

Sunday Bella woke us up at 6:30 in the morning screaming the easter bunny came!  This girl was excited and couldn't wait to wake up the whole house. The easter bunny brought them a pack of peeps each and the girls got a new pair of flip flops and a new kite. Henry got peeps pack of hot wheels and a bubble gun.

For lunch we had ham & potato chowder with dinner rolls ( these rolls were the same rolls i posted a few days prior) with a salad and some fresh strawberries. Right after lunch Scott was eager to dig into the homemade banana cream pie. I was going to make it on Saturday evening but i feared he would have a slice before easter meal. I was so glad that the pie turned out was it so yummy! Henry even ate half of jenni's slice of pie.

After lunch we walked to the park next to our house to fly our kites. Well we have to much tree coverage so the kites were flying good. Scott got the brilliant idea to go to our sledding hill and that should be high enough to get the wind. He so nailed it, the wind was a blowing and the kites were flying high. My girls were so excited to see them fly. Kate has asked everyday to go fly her kite since!

Kate's kite- Olaf was a crazy flyer

Henry fell asleep on the way home from the sledding hill and didn't wake up when we transfered him to his bed!  All that running up and down the hill wore him out. While he was sleeping Jenni the girls and I colored easter eggs.  Bella enjoys dying the egg but still hates eating hard boiled eggs. Kate on the other hand eats a boiled egg almost daily the last month. Two sisters completely different!

Bella's tie dye egg

she tried them again and still didn't enjoy "rotten eggs" that is what the girls call them.

Jenni went home and a hour later Grandpa and Grandma haggenmiller showed up to hang out with us for a bit. We went for a walk to the end of the road and then the sprinkles began falling and we decided we didn't want to risk getting showered on. So we headed home for left overs. Our house doesn't do good with left overs.  I will eat them occasionally and the girls 98% of the time won't touch them. But yet we still keep filling the tupperware after dinner and shoving it in the fridge so i can throw it in the trash a week later. Come on people admit you do that too!!!!!!!  Bella and grandma  did a little dancing and henry joined right in there with him. We have some great dancers in this family. After the grandparents left we had quiet time before bed.

It was a great Easter weekend.
