Memorial Weekend Camping Adventure
We sold our camper to Scott's parents and they needed a little 101 on how to use it. So we joined them along with Anna and Tim. Oh and 3 dogs. We went to a campground up by willow river called Bremen Woods Campground. Scott's Aunt is the manger. It's always a great plan to have a inside connection with the campground you are visiting, so you don't get in so much trouble while camping in the woods. Our site was
called fish hook way #4. They had really cute signs for all the camp sites.
Sherri's sibling also came up to camp that weekend so it was a real big family event.
Kate loved Anna and Tims tent rug. She was feeling at home there.
The first day was nice, Scott and I were able to take the canoe out on the pond. He feel back in love with canoe, that he wants to bring his canoe to our house. His parents have been storing it there! Thanks guys...... Took the kids to the park to play and wear off some much needed energy. It was a great park they had a bunch of swings made out of tires shaped like dragons, reindeer, and many different animals. It also made a great spot for the dogs to play. Tim and Anna convinced us to let Rosie run around with out us holding her leash. We have serious control issues about that. It worked out just fine. We are not much to just sit at a campground we have to drive and do stuff. So we went to willow River to get ice cream at the mercantile and hit up the liquor store. The whole time on the way up i was trying to figure out where my grandparents cabin was. I didnt think i was too far from there and i wasnt. Well we just made it back to the campground when the sky got dark and the wind picked up. We were in store for some nasty weather. Tim and Anna packed up there tent and we tucked up everything under the camper and hunker down. The rain just poured down and then it began to hail. I mean it was like pea size junks.
Scott wasn't going to give up on the dinner he was going to make for supper. He made his spaghetti under the canopy. Dedication! About 30 min. later it was done. It cleared up and we were good for the night and supper. I'm glad it wasn't that bad, its hard to play it out while your camping. No hiding in your laundry room there.
Kate was enjoying the cafeteria trays Grandpa Al brought home from the school. They work perfect for camping. We played a few rounds of horse shoes, i do have to admit I'm not the best at that game but it is fun. Then we gathered around the fire for a night of funny stories. Along with smores and apple pies with the whole family. Minus Al and Sherri they had to go take care of there two dogs. I woke up the next morning with the worst allergy attack ever it took me almost 24 hours to recover.
When Sherri and Al returned the next morning we had everything packed in our cars ready for them to put the camper down themselves. Oh and they had the whole family gang watching them. Maybe a few pictures of them trying to figure out what the next step is. Luckily we had a few birdies telling them what to do next. I think we were going to pee our pants laughing at them. It was the best 20 minutes of my life.
By the time we were ready to go we where all a little tired and ready to head home to our own bed.
My biggest concern for the weekend was how Rosie would do? And she did great. She didn't even bark when we put her in her kennel inside the camper. So proud. Next on the list would be buying a tent for our family.
