Duluth Weekend
So we have this Summer Bucket List going and we are checking them off left and right! Friday night Scott's Dad and sister came over and we thought we would ask Anna if she would take our dog Rosie back home with her so we can go to Duluth in the morning. Lucky us she agreed! She basically runs a dog kennel because everyone ask them to watch there dogs when they are going to be gone. Bella was at a sleep over at the neighbor girls house Friday night so i text her mom and said were picking up Bella at 9 am Saturday morning. Then we ran a few last minute errands around town for a hour, and then hit the freeway to go North.
I seriously did a few loads of laundry Friday night and walked around to each room and grabbed a few things and chucked them in the van. We had to be at a bbq in mora on Sunday so i was packing for the whole weekend in a short hour or so. Plus when you go to the north shore you never know how the weather will be so you over pack.
We made it to Lino Lakes, and then we heard "Are we there yet?" Really? No we have like 200 miles to go! Then about every 25 min. we heard that again. Finally when we got to like 100 miles to go she was like, "that's all?" Mmmm oh ok . Henry slept the entire time we drove that morning. Awesome. I made a yummy sandwiches along the way as we drove and we watched a movie and answered a lot of questions. I think I had to unbuckle and walk back and forth for silly things along the way. That is one perk of a van....
As we came in on the top of the Duluth hill the kids were so amazed and impressed and asked "what is that?" like a million times. They don't remember Duluth from the last time we were there like 2 years ago. We went straight to The Depot to ride the train. That was the reason for going to Duluth. Unfortunately Thomas was there and there normal train schedule was out the window. They wanted 20.00 a person for a 20 min. ride on the Thomas train. I don't think so! So we just walked around the train station and rode the trolley. I was bummed i really wanted to ride the 90 min. train ride. We are going to go back and do the pizza train or the polar express later this year.

Then we got in the van and headed down to canal park. We climbed a bunch of rocks and walked down the pier and then headed down towards the restaurant for some supper. We ended up going to Green Mill since we have never been there. I wasn't impressed with there food, but Scott liked it! By that time it was time to feed the meter again. By this time Bella convinced me that we should take a horse carriage ride. We had a girl horse pulling us around this 20 min. loop. It was a lot of fun. Henry was out cold by the time we got back to the spot we started at. That worked out perfect because then he just slept in the baby carrier while we walked in and out of the stores. We were window shopping and that was driving Bella nuts!
We were able to meet up with my cousin Amy and her family in Duluth. What is the odds of that happening? We live about 25 min. from each other but we meet up 2 1/2 hours from our house instead. We walked back towards the car and Scott went to go check the van to see if we got a ticket because we for sure went over our time now. Yep we got a 12.00 parking ticket! Booo oh well! By this time it was getting close to 9 pm. We hit the coffee shop and Scott ran back to the fizzy water bottle shop to get a 6 pack of root beer. And started heading South. We didn't make it to the top of Duluth hill before we had to stop. Henry was tired and super cranky. So I feed him and changed him and put him back in his seat and he cried non stop for 50 min. We tried to find a hotel to stay the night because we were so tired and worn out but there was not a hotel from Duluth to mora. Seriously? Why? So we crashed at Sherri's and Al's house about 11:30.
We were up by 7 am..... Oh my word i don't think i really fell asleep to about 2 am. We went to the BBQ around 12:30, and then stopped by Grandmas around 5 and didn't leave mora till about 7 pm. We were all in bed by 9:30 Sunday night.
