New Windows

We bought our house about 9 years ago and when we bought it we knew windows will be added to the list of repairs. 87% of the windows had a crack in them with tape covering it. They were old single pane, wood windows. Every house we have had, has had bad windows that leak so badly in our cold Minnesota winters. It's such a costly expense to replace, and lord knows we have lots of windows in our house. It's a blessing and a curse at the same time!  I love natural light!!! We have 15 windows in our home.

It's a miracle that we are in our home still with economy collapsing in 2008 and my husband losing his job. We fought hard to keep our house and we are so proud of ourselves and our house. Things are looking up and the time has come to start replacing and fixing some of our house repairs. We got quoted for windows and to replace them all at once was like buying a car so we are doing 5 windows right now. Our bedroom which is the worse, it freezes over all winter where you cant even see out of it and the window falls out all the time. We are also replacing the two windows in Bella's room she has the second coldest window. Then we have a mini window off the living room that the kids toy section is in,that is always froze over.

I am so excited for this. We are also having white 2.5 inch trim on the inside around the window. I love that look, it makes it so crisp and clean looking. My goals is to eventually have all white trim in this house. I have to remember this is a marathon not a sprint. I cant have all my house dreams in one shot, i would go broke or get burnt out trying to do it all. I have a rolling list of things we need to work on for the house. I think everyone has one of those, or every wife does!

Here are the before pictures
we had to remove a electrical outlet that was under north side window so trim will fit

We are having Custom Remodelers doing our windows

They came early Thursday Morning around 9...... I was so excited
That is the truck carrying our windows.

Two guys were assigned to our house. He began by removing the outer part of our window and the outside trim. Then i got super distracted with Henry and they removed the rest of the window! They did the foam and yada yada window stuff to protect the elements from making it drafty and then put the new windows in and nice thick white trim.  Took about 8 hours and we had a beautiful looking window that i can place my hand on them and barely felt any cold- even touching the window. That might sound weird, but we have never had a house with good windows. Many years of plastic on them and it feels good to be making these changes.  When they ripped out the old windows they found a big header and that made it hard for the trim to match up to where it was before. It left a unpainted section around the windows. So we will have to be doing some painting soon. Unfortunately the paint for those rooms I do not have left overs, so it will be getting a new paint color.

But i am not to motivated at the moment but I'm sure it will kick in eventually. Scott also suggested i paint all the window trim white to match till we get around to changing out those windows. I was shocked he never suggest that stuff!

They were super nice and didn't show frustration to a preschool boy asking what they were doing every 5 min. and a dog that just wanted to be petted by them every second.

And from this project i have saved something for a new project. True Angie fashion!!!!
Our little window from our living room will be saved to make a My Little Library Stand for our yard this summer. It's the perfect size window for a library box.
