Zoo Adventures
Every year Al's union lets the members visit the MN zoo for 4 hours for free. It's the only time we ever go that zoo because the cost of entrance is through the roof. This year i was beginning to wonder if it was going to be a wash. It rained all morning and even as we were heading there. But by the time we got to the area it stopped the sun begin shining and i think we were safe from getting down poured. Yay!
This year it was just our family that was able to go along with. Almost every year we have the whole clan go. We got there and there were some melt downs in the parking lot and a few along the way but I believe that is normal. Right???? First we stopped and saw the monkeys and then we went all the way over by the carasoul to get some free face painting thanks to the union members. Our kids were the first in line. Kate was set on a tiger face painting and bella went with a few flowers around her eye, and henry got a lighting bolt(not sure what it was suppose to represent).
After that was done and a icee thanks to grandma they ran around the outdoor park and in the grain mine tubes. This year we went to the farm area to see that since we never made that far over before. Henry loved the jersey cow he even touched it. All the kids loved the goats. Henry and Bella were the only brave souls to feed the goat. All three of them brushed a couple goats too! After that area we went to go find the tigers. Kate was so excited to find them and when we got there the tiger was sleeping under the tree by the logs. He didn't want to come out and let us see him, she was a little bummed.
By this time dinner was on the mind of everyone and the kids also wanted everything and anything from the gift stores. We stopped and played on the area by the splash pad for a few minutes before we ate and then we went to discovery bay to look and touch some sea creatures. Bella was so excited to touch eel and kate wanted to but then got scared everything it came close by. Grandpa and Bella were the only ones that touched it.
A pit stop at the coffee stand and the gift store again and we headed over the bird section in the tropics. I love this area it's inside and i love flamingos. On one part of the walk through the birds are free and a few were walking right next to us on the path. Henry tried to run up and give it a hug. I stopped that before Henry or the bird would've done something they regretted. :)
By that time it was time to go. Lets say leaving the park was not the same as we entered. 2 crabby girls made that they didn't have a 20.00 stuffed animal from the gift store and was made because dad had a coffee and they had no gift. In the car the attitudes didn't improve for at least 20 more minutes. Finally they snapped out of it and apologized to us and then called there grandparents to apologize to them too.
Adventures don't equally happy people but at least we go out and try. You can't please everyone but that is not my goal. The zoo was fun and maybe next year we will get more of the family to come with and see a different section we didn't see this time. Oh better attitudes but i'm not holding my breathe.
Sorry buddy i need to find you a rain coat that didn't come from your sisters.
