Spaghetti Squash

So i thought i would try out this squash that apparently shreds up like a spaghetti noodle. Since we don't eat noodles here at our house i thought i would see if the rumors were true!  I researched on how to cook this squash and i found that there is two methods. One where you cut the squash length wise in half and bake it. And method two is where you cut the squash every 1 inch apart. They say if you do method 2 you will get long noodles from it.

After you slice it up you remove the seed part from the center of each ring and discard it. Place them on a baking mat or parchment paper on top of a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees.
they are baked and i am starting to shred them

you get this much out of a 1 inch cut

So i did the second method and baked it for about a 45 min and then shredded it and believe it or not it did look like a spaghetti noodle but i think i should have cooked it longer it was a bit crunchy still. I still ate it but i think i will try it one more time and see if i cook it longer it will be better.

I have also seen this hand held machine where you can spiral cut zucchini for a noodle looking veggie. I bet that would be awesome and then steam them to cook and serve with pasta sauce.  Maybe someday i will try that out.

here is the spiral cutter i was talking about

I never thought in a million year i would be taking veggies and trying to make them into a pasta like item. But we are hear and i am doing it!  Plus it's a great way to add more veggies to your daily intake, which i am all for.
