Seattle Vacation
We slept in... well 6 am!!! That how we roll, we rise early and play hard. The drive into Seattle was like 20 min. We crossed a beautiful bridge with gorgeous houses on the ocean and the first thing we saw was the baseball and football stadiums. Then we saw tons of homeless and roads being shut down, Yay for the unknown. We decided to go to the hotel early and see if we can get in and park so we didn't have to find safe parking for our van with all the bikes on it. Luckily we were able to do that, and we were able to move our room to the tower with the pool in it. In order for us to park our van with the bikes and roof carrier they had to valet it. Parking was not free in this hotel. Womp Womp Womp! 56.00 to park while we stayed there, and when we came back down and walked through the back door we saw our van next to the stop arm because even then they couldn't find space for it. Kinda funny!
There was the gay pride parade going on and they had a good section of town closed down and the parade finished at the space needle. Since we were up and going early it hasn't started so we headed down to the water front section where pikes market and Ferris wheel were. We were going there anyway! Oh pikes market is like a really big farmers market and flea market. There is something for everyone. I didn't realize how big that place was. There was like 4 levels down of stores and shops, and the alleys on the ground level had restaurants and places to shop too. Very cute place and if we had more time and less crowd it would be fun. We were also limited to with gluten free food options in the area.
We had lunch before starting to head back up towards market place again. Bella insisted on having a gluten lunch.. if you know Bella she ask for that all the time when we are out. She had subway. I stopped at fish place and got fish and chips, and the rest of them went to Red Robin because they have gf options and dedicated fryer.
After our bellies were full we climbed 50 flights of stairs back up to Post Alley to see the famous gum wall. It's a alley where people place pieces of gum on the wall. Some spell our there names with gum, some stick notes on the wall with gum, and it's layered and layers with millions of peoples gum. So of course we had to join in on that fun. We had a pack of gum in the backpack waiting for this moment. The color of all the different gum was really cool. Such a weird thing, who thinks of these things and how does it continue and be famous? mind blowing!
We were exhausted from the heat and were going to go swim at the pool back at the hotel. As we were walking back the parade was going and in full effect. My kids had many questions on what and why there was a parade and I did have to shield them from some very not kid friendly scenery. That lead to a sit down discussion on what they saw and such.
The hotel swimming pool was empty which was so nice to let the kids splash up a storm and play. After the parade had ended and sun was not as hot we went back out and explored the area around our hotel. We some how ended up down by the water again and on the way Henry fell asleep on Scott while he carried him. He was exhausted and so was Scott!
the over passes had so much trees and greenery

The Westin hotel where we stayed

cute little alley with little restaurants
the ferry going to the islands. I love the mountains. I think I said look at the mountains to Scott like a million times.
After going through a few areas in the market place we headed down towards the dock on the water and the kids begged to go on the Ferris wheel. I told them they get to pick one activity to do and they had to agree on it. We were there when they opened and able to go on the first round. They said it would go around 3 times. Lets just say 64.00 dollars for 5 of us to go around 3 times?????? mmm the things we do for the kids. We actually got lucky and went 5 times I think it was because they did not build up a full line yet to do the next round on the Ferris wheel. We spent the rest of the time before lunch walking around the stores and seeing all the souvenirs at each store. It was a super hot day, it was suppose to be 87 with little shade.
not a fan of this ride!

Seattle was fun and I wish it was not a day that was super busy and crowded, I also wish we were able to see more of the town where it was not a tourist trap area. But being there for one day made it hard to do it all. We really got the miles on our shoes that day seeing what we could.
Next is the day we went to go to mount olympic national park.
My computer is going into the apple store for the week to be fixed due to a 4 year old so nothing will be happening till it returns back to me next week! :(
