Our Christmas 2013
It was a great Christmas this year…. It was Henry's first Christmas, we did a few things we don't normally do during the season, we baked a few cookies…. we ate a few cookies, we got to spend times with family on both sides, and we were able to relax and enjoy time with our little family.
Today i have been working on a little project that i have been playing around and having fun doing. iMovie….. When we got our new mac i was excited to learn how to use that software. It was a fun challenge learning how to do it myself. I thought it would be a great way to capture the things we do and have for future fun when the kids get older. I was also able to give it to the Grandparents to see what we do through out the year too! I am almost done with our christmas movie, i am just waiting on our haggenmiller gathering this weekend.
This year we went up to the casino in Hinckley for the Discher gathering. We haven't been up there for awhile because we wanted to start our own traditions. We also decided we would go there every few years but not a annual thing. It was fun and low key this year, which was nice. The snow started falling pretty good a couples after we arrived and by the time we left it got pretty bad. It took us 2 hours to get back to the cities. But at least we made it home safe.
The girls were excited to see what Santa would bring them this year. Especially Kate, she asked him for a photo of him, and lalaloopsy doll. He delivered….he set her display photo to a picture of him on her tablet and brought her a doll. Bella was questioning santa this year and when christmas eve arrived she was just as excited as kate. She asked for a my little pony doll! Henry received a hammer that made sounds. Mom and Dad also received gifts of books.. I got the jesus calling devotional and dad got his favorite bike book-ride yourself lean.
After the kids checked out what santa brought them we had some breakfast. I made homemade cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting, a cheesy potato egg bake, and egg nog & hot coco.
Then we dove into the present unwrapping. I did something my mom did to us. I number each print so they would not know which present was there. They had fun guessing which ones were theres!
By that time i was ready for a nap. Stayed up way to late the night before and Henry was not a good sleeper that night, plus kate had us up at 7 am. They let me sleep for 2 hours! Christmas miracle. We chilled at home and skyped, and face timed the grandparents. I also made a crockpot of beef stew for dinner. Such a easy day!
It funny looking back at the day and seeing what toy each kids really enjoyed. It never what you thought they would like most. Over all i am so thankful for my family and that we are able to celebrate the birth of jesus christ because without him there would be no reason for this season.
A sneak peek into our last week!
